We have more visitors/Oregon Coast Part 1

Our long time friends, Rosie and Betty, came for a 2 week visit on August 24th.  The day after they came, we did a 3 day excursion along the coast: from Cannon Beach (NW corner of the state, about 30 miles from  Washington) south to Newport, a drive of about 100 miles.  As you will see below, the coast of Oregon is really spectacular.  There were so many good pictures of the coast, I decided to do two posts.
Haystack Rock.
A light mist was blowing in off
the Pacific the whole time
we were there.

Checking out the starfish and
sea anemones at low tide.

Are they walking into
the Twilight Zone ?

The mist makes Haystack
Rock surreal.
That's Betty and Caroline
looking at something.

The view from our picnic area
at Ecola State Park.
There were low level clouds
hanging on the horizon all day,
as you will see in all the
'ocean' photos below.

A view along the coast highway
(as well as the rest of the photos).

I've mentioned in a previous post
very few people go in the water
(it is cold !!).  They do as you
can see here - however, they
are all surfers with wet suits.

Let's check that map
again, just to be sure
we are not lost.

Only surfers.

Hiking one of the trails
along the coast.

Occasionally, the clouds reached
the shore, creating an
interesting look.

The mist came in fast...

Did this in about a minute !
