Leaving North Carolina heading west

Feburary 13, 2010 we left the North Carolina mountains.  Our first stop was Chattanooga. Visited the Chattanooga & Chickamauga National Military Park.  Didn't see very much outside; it was windy, cold and snowing.  The next day, we went up to Lookout Mountain.  Weather was the same.  You are suppose to see 7 states from the top. We barely saw Chattanooga which was only 2 miles away (there's a photo below).  On the 15th, we stopped at Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, TN.      Weather was about the same, so we didn't get a complete tour.  That Wasn't good for picture taking either.  That afternoon we stopped at Shiloh National Military Park.  Weather was the same, so we didn't get to see very much (picked a good time to go didn't we ?!!).  Left for Memphis that evening and arrived on the16th to visit Graceland.  Caroline always wanted to go and since it was on the way... I was expecting the tour of the mansion to be a zoo, but that is not how it turned out.  They had the tour down to a science and it was very enjoyable.  We ended up spending over 5 hours there.  Our next stop was Texas, so we left after Graceland.  The next day we drove down through Mississippi.  Stopped at the capital, Jackson, and had  lunch.  It was the first day in weeks that it was warm enough to be without a jacket.   Our next overnight stop was Natchez, Mississippi. We have  been there in the past and liked it, so we decided to stay overnight.  A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a week cruise to the Caribbean for our 40th anniversary.  We  stopped at Beaumont, Texas for a couple of days and will drive to Galveston tomorrow (21st) to catch the cruise.  That's it for now.
At the Chattanooga Choo-Choo
site there was about 40 of these
old passenger cars.  Each one
was converted into 2 'motel'
rooms. We got to see one;
they were quite cozy.

From the top of Lookout Mountain.
You can just make out downtown
Chattanooga in the middle of the
photo.  In the foreground is the
Tennessee River.

At least I got a picture
of Jack Daniel

Elvis' Mansion.
You can take all the photos
you want as long as the flash is
not used.  This is the living room.

The dining room.

The kitchen.

The rec room in the basement.

A long room with some of his gold
and platinum records.  This room
goes just as far the other way.

There is a building separate from
the mansion called the Gold Room.
It contains even more of his gold
and platinum records.  There
are more on the other 3 walls
(but not as many).
Paul McCartney supposedly said
'... and I thought the Beatles had
a lot of gold records!'

Every day Elvis gets flowers
and wreaths from fans all
over the world.

His pink Cadillac.

Behind this jet is a smaller
Lear-type jet.

Lunch at the capital building
in Jackson, Mississippi.

Riverboat casino along the
Mississippi River in Natchez.

Sunset over the Mississippi River.

Stanton Plantation house.
It was one of the most elegant
plantation homes in Natchez.

Caroline on the front porch.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow... this time in Delaware

Southern Delaware gets on average 13.5" of snow a year.  In at least the last 8 years, they have not gotten anywhere near that amount - until we arrived (Jan. 28th).  This past Saturday (Jan. 30th), 11" fell.  I had to dig out in Spruce Pine and now I had to help my brother Chris, dig out.
