Feburary 13, 2010 we left the North Carolina mountains. Our first stop was Chattanooga. Visited the Chattanooga & Chickamauga National Military Park. Didn't see very much outside; it was windy, cold and snowing. The next day, we went up to Lookout Mountain. Weather was the same. You are suppose to see 7 states from the top. We barely saw Chattanooga which was only 2 miles away (there's a photo below). On the 15th, we stopped at Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, TN. Weather was about the same, so we didn't get a complete tour. That Wasn't good for picture taking either. That afternoon we stopped at Shiloh National Military Park. Weather was the same, so we didn't get to see very much (picked a good time to go didn't we ?!!). Left for Memphis that evening and arrived on the16th to visit Graceland. Caroline always wanted to go and since it was on the way... I was expecting the tour of the mansion to be a zoo, but that is not how it turned out. They had the tour down to a science and it was very enjoyable. We ended up spending over 5 hours there. Our next stop was Texas, so we left after Graceland. The next day we drove down through Mississippi. Stopped at the capital, Jackson, and had lunch. It was the first day in weeks that it was warm enough to be without a jacket. Our next overnight stop was Natchez, Mississippi. We have been there in the past and liked it, so we decided to stay overnight. A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a week cruise to the Caribbean for our 40th anniversary. We stopped at Beaumont, Texas for a couple of days and will drive to Galveston tomorrow (21st) to catch the cruise. That's it for now.
