Stonington, Maine

Here we are in Stonington, a port town of about 1200. It is not even on some maps I have, so the first photo shows where it is in Maine.
As you may know, Maine is the lobster capital, but Stonington is the lobster capital of Maine.
As you can see from the photos the weather has been really nice since we got here on the 8th. In the last photo, we were at one of the docks just as they were unloading their lobster catch. They put them in the gray and blue plastic crates and 'store' them in the water until the trucks come and pick them up. You can also buy them right from the boat for about $4 a pound. Can't get much fresher than that !

We will be here until the 22nd, than go up the coast to another small town just outside of Acadia National Park.

Map showing where Stonington is located; just to the NE is Acadia National Park.

A view of the harbor from our upstairs deck.

Downtown. It doesn't even have a red light.

Looking towards town from one of the docks.

A view of the harbor.

There was a very light rain on the evening of the 11th. The sun came out just enough to create this rainbow.

Unloading just caught lobsters.
